The other day I had heard about this “funny” book. Why was it funny? Because for one thing, the fine lady who ships to me and keeps me up to date said to me, “Bob I am laughing because I am sending you a review copy o f anew chess book: Your OPPONENT is OVERRATED

When you read FM James Schuyler’s reasons you will be seen by others as nodding your head. .And laughing

This guy is a take no prisoner’s explainer. He’s also in the pedigree of the late IM Simon Webb and his CHESS FOR TIGERS.

First of all he believes, with the right attitude, almost anyone can be beaten now and then, or even more often. He’s not kidding and he gives lots of examples in his No Draw Approach. Guys like him are scary to play against.

Did you know, for example, that the much maligned Latvian Gambit scores much better in real play than the Sicilian? The logic is interesting. While White is laughing inside that his opponent is playing the Latvian, the rest of him is trying to think of what the “next book move is!” And of course Black knows it better than White because he is an aficionado whereas White is usually a dilettante. But he just KNOWS it’s bad. Most don’t know why, but Schuyler has added combat ammo there too.

There’s 220 pages of carnage among the 26 openings. I want to tell you more but you will just have to read about it in your FREE issue of the CHESS GAZETTE! Send yourname in an email to me and get your free issue of issue #210 which is available right now!
